The Gatehouse is an early evening drop-in centre for anyone who is 25 or over. It is open Tuesday-Saturday 5-7 p.m. , Sundays 3-5 p.m., at the Northgate Hall, 18 St. Michael's Street (off Cornmarket St, Oxford). Location map
Tea, coffee, sandwiches, cake (soup in winter) are provided. The food is simple but nutritious and filling.
Our service is free of charge to all who use it.
People are welcome to come in to eat, drink, rest or meet others when we are open. Our doors are open to everyone 25 and over who accepts the need for reasonable behaviour. Unfortunately we do not have access for disabled people; if this affects you, please get in touch and we will try to help.
We provide hot drinks, food, newspapers and a warm and quiet environment for our visitors. If our staffing levels (and knowledge!) permit, we try to offer advice and information to anyone who asks. We do not allow alcohol or drugs on the premises (except for alcohol if handed over for safe keeping during the session - it is returned to the owner as they leave), but we do not make any judgements about people who use these.
We try to have few rules but some are essential to ensure the safe running of the project; it is important that we stick to these rules so that they remain clear and fair to everyone (see rules).
We also have our own in-house website constructed with and by guests, to which anyone may contribute.
We aim to provide a safe, pleasant environment for all our guests and staff to enjoy. If you have suggestions, please mention them to a volunteer or member of staff at one of the sessions, or e-mail us on suggestions@oxfordgatehouse.org
We look forward to seeing you at Gatehouse.
